Army Museum Waiouru is situated as part of a living Army environment next to the Waiouru Army Base, a unique fortress-like building which resembles a castle with a moat. Located in Waiouru at the foot of Mt Ruapehu and the Desert Road and the gateway to Tongariro National Park in the central North Island. The uniquely situated New Zealand museum is:
