This holiday, imagine yourself exploring one of New Zealand's beautiful rivers on an open Canadian canoe. Relax as the river takes care of most of the work, allowing you to take in the nature. If this sounds like a piece of vacation magic, then you should contact Canoe Safaris today!

Located next to the Tongariro and Whanganui National Parks, Canoe Safaris has been operating river trips for over 20 years. Trips are suitable for all ages and are excellent family holidays.

One to five day trips canoeing in the Whanganui National Park, or two to four day rafting and inflatable kayak trips on the Upper Mohaka River.

The Whanganui river has a special magic not present on most rivers. Besides its rich history, much of which is still apparent on the riverbanks, it is perhaps the last remaining river that was significant in early transport networks that remains truly wild and untouched.

The Rangitikei river carves its way through the steep deep papa gorges of the Kaimanawa and Ruahine ranges on its journey to the Tasman Sea. The rapids are grade one and two, and the scenery spectacular. There is clear water for trout fishing and swimming, grassy campsites on the river's edge, high papa bluffs, stands of native bush, short walks to waterfalls and the amazing "Rangitikei Boulders".

The Mohaka river offers some of the best introductory wilderness canoeing and rafting in New Zealand. We carry a range of boats to suit every thrill level - the inflatable self-bailing Sport Yak kayaks will give you a real taste of action, or, if you prefer something a little drier, hop on board one of our large self bailing rafts. Either way the Mohaka offers a great range of grade 1 to 3 rapids for the right amount of team building fun. Right in the middle of this sub-alpine river are natural hot springs. Imagine relaxing in a natural hot spring with a bottle of wine, under a full moon, way out in the middle of nowhere!

Canoe Safaris is able to employ some of the best river guides you will find anywhere in the world. Canoe Safaris is the only company to employ "full time" guides - they are trained professionals and their experience and knowledge can make a huge difference to your enjoyment and safety on a trip. All guides are trained in First Aid/CPR, and most also have qualifications in Swiftwater Rescue, Risk Management, Weather reading, and many are qualified Raft guides. They are also great cooks and entertainers.

Canoe Safaris are passionate river paddlers and we enjoy sharing this passion, along with the best river and camping equipment with our customers.

You're on Holiday - and that's the bottom line. We take care of everything. you don't need to worry about food, cooking, how far it is, what to do if it rains - we've got it sorted. Our guides work hard to make sure you have a well earned break.
