Fans of contempory art will love the large selection on display at Centre of Contempory Art, COCA, found at 66 Gloucester Street in downtown Christchurch. Five galleries and over 60 exhibitions per annum will enable you to gain an in-depth understanding of both New Zealand and Cantabrian Contemporary Art.

Besides providing numerous specialised art services for members, the centre also hosts an extensive Open Gallery where hundreds of art works are on display and for sale by renowned New Zealand artists.

The Centre of Contemporary Art (CoCA) continues to offer our popular general practice art classes every term of the school year. These classes cater for students aged 5 – 18 years, and cover a broad range of art practices and media including drawing, painting, mixed media, sculpture, printing, and design. Each term the classes cover a specific theme in order to introduce students to various forms of art making, and as they progress, to enhance their skill base. For adult classes please contact COCA.

The Centre, established in 1880 is the oldest art institution in the Canterbury region.

Visit COCA's website for details of the current exhibitions on display.
