The Tuatapere Hump Ridge Track is a 3 day / 2 night circuit tramp amidst sandstone tors and mountain tarns offers 360 degree panoramic views of Stewart Island, the Southern Ocean and the wilderness of Southwest Fiordland. It climbs high on to the Hump Ridge and Okaka Hut at 890 metres ( 2 920 feet ). The track then descends along the Hump Ridge to the South Coast track, along old tramlines and across mighty wooden viaducts to historic Port Craig. Bush and beach tracks following Te Waewae Bay complete the circuit.

There are three main packages designed especially for your needs and tastes. The Freedom Walk is pretty much as it sounds. Get out there and do it yourself. Add some options at your choice.

The Freedom Plus package lets you concentrate on your holiday. They will organise all the transport connections, accommodation bookings and add a few creature comforts like heli packing and hot showers on the trail.

Or it might be an all inclusive Guided Walk you are after. Your own personal guides, all meals and premium accommodation.

For you first time trampers or family groups perhaps not ready to tackle the Hump they recommend the 3 day Viaduct Walk. Stay at historic Port Craig for two nights with a chance to walk to the mighty Percy Burn Viaduct, explore the local heritage trail or watch the Dolphins in the southern ocean!

And if you are an "armchair adventurer" then you better check out our Heli Hump and Heli Jet combo packages. Get further faster.

Whatever your choice they will help you organise your trip to the Tuatapere Hump Ridge Track and Fiordland National Park.

A maximum of 5,000 people a year are allowed to walk the track. Less than a third of other Great Walks. More wilderness, less people. Guaranteed!
