Mt Potts backcountry ski field and lodge offers superb skiing and snowboarding on virgin powder slopes that can only be accessed by helicopter and snow cat.

Mt.Potts Lodge is approximately one hour’s drive from Methven, or two from Christchurch.

Mt.Potts Catskiing is New Zealand's only helicopter accessed SnowCat skiing experience. Join a group of only fourteen guests skiing or riding the steeps, powder and chutes of Mt.Potts. The day starts with a helicopter flight to the ski area where you will have a avalanche transceiver tutorial before boarding the SnowCat for the first lift to the top. We do an average of 10-12 runs per day, on mostly untracked powder snow. That's nearly 17,000 vertical feet of bliss! Mt.Potts is 2149m high and our base for the day at 1450m. The price for the day includes a delicious mile-high picnic.

Mt.Potts Heliski operates in Canterbury's spectacular Northern Two Thumb and Cloudy Peak ranges. The terrain varies from steeps and challenging chutes to wide open bowls and long, long powder runs. Heliski or board in safety with our highly qualified guides and pilots experienced in mountain flying, and get into some of the best terrain and snow New Zealand has to offer.

Enjoy our five fantastic heliski runs, gourmet lunch, small group size (maximum 4 guests) and personalized guiding service, then either choose to ski some more or fly back to Mt.Potts lodge for cold beer and nibbles at the end of the day. Private charter is also available for clients who wish to do ten or more runs, and for photography and film work.

Mt.Potts HeliSki & CatSki is suitable for skiers and boarders of intermediate or above ability. Why not stay at Mt.Potts Lodge to combine a couple of days Heliskiing and some SnowCat days to really experience everything Mt.Potts has to offer. You won't be disappointed.

Nestled at the base of the mountain is Mt Potts Alpine Lodge with a licensed bar, and all meals are included in the over night stay price.
