Mt Dobson has been providing skiing and snowboarding pleasure to thousands of people for 25 years.

Recent investment, such as the installation of the Triple Chair Lift up the West Valley, provide even more enjoyment for visitors to Mt Dobson - More snow for your dough.

With regular snowfalls on its peaks and across the wide open slopes, Mt Dobson offers a fun skiing and snowboarding experience for everyone. From the well groomed slopes for the beginners & intermediates, through to the soft and smooth powder that will test the best. Mt Dobson offers a challenge for all levels of skiers and boarders.

With the largest learners’ area in New Zealand, Mt Dobson is an ideal place to learn to ski or board. Wide slopes and lots of space makes for a relaxed environment – ideal for learning. Our Ski School offers group and private lessons for all levels of ability, including the disabled. Our instructors are all well qualified, and best of all, snow and teaching are their passion. Group lessons start at 11am and 1:30pm with private lessons available at any time of the day. There is no need to pre-book lessons, this can be done on the day at the ski school office.

Mt Dobson is rated 25% beginner, 50% intermediate, 25% advanced.

Wait till you see the views! Spectacular! Awesome! From the top of the ski area, you can gaze out across Lakes Pukaki and Tekapo to the magnificent peaks of New Zealand’s highest mountains, Mt Cook & Mt Tasman.

Just off the Christchurch/Queenstown highway, 11km west of fairlie and 18km East from Lake Tekapo, Mt Dobson is a short 40min drive , smooth mountain road, one of the easiest alpine roads in the country. Plenty of parking available and there’s shuttle transport available weekends and holidays.
