1500 metres high above the Cardrona Valley, the Pisa Range provides the perfect backdrop for your cross country skiing. Snow Farm offers over 50kms of expertly groomed trails to a professional standard enable both classic & skate skiing.
Cross country skiing suits all ages and abilities. Athletes in swimming, rowing, triathlon, multi-sport and mountain biking use cross country skiing as off season training, as it provides an entire body workout.
Those new to cross country skiing will benefit from a lesson with our highly qualified and experienced international ski school.
Classic skiing requires the least amount of physical conditioning and is most enjoyable at a beginner level. It involves one central motion in the ‘grooves’ on the trails.
Skate skiing is more like ice skating but with skis on wider groomed trails. Packed trails allow for a tremendous increase in glide and range of motion.
Our supervised Tubing Park has six runs, varying in grade and proves to be very popular during the winter. We have sleds and tubes available for hire by the hour all supplied with protective headwear. Great for kids and adults, the Tubing Park is a great way to begin or end a days skiing.
Situated between the car park and trails is Snow Farm’s ski-in, ski-out Alpine Lodge! In Winter, the lodge accommodates ski teams from all over the northern hemisphere, New Zealanders in need of a break and holidaymakers from Australia looking for the perfect getaway. Parents can watch their children skiing out on the trails whilst enjoying lunch or a coffee. The lodge offers en suite rooms all boasting colour televisions, telephones and king or queen size beds. Shared facility rooms offer king, queen or single beds and large shared bathrooms. En suite family rooms are also available and all rooms provide the most amazing views.
There are also two accommodation huts on the ski trails. These huts are very popular, particularly during a full moon. Ski-in, ski-out; all you need to take is food, a torch and your sleeping bags!
During the Winter Seasons, bus's from Wanaka travel to Snow Farm every day and are reasonably priced.
