Vertical Limits Indoor Climbing Centre, in Nelson, contains 700 square metres of fully textured climbing surface and the climbing wall is 11 metres in height and has a 15 metre overhang. There are over 100 climbing routes. All climbing equipment including shoes, harnesses, and chalk bags are available to hire.

The centre houses a retail shop, a club function area is available for hire, and climbing instruction is available.

The Gear Store provides a personal and professional service - they are always available to give advice on outdoor equipment, and will help you to choose the equipment that's right for you, not just gear that they sell. There is a good stock of climbing equipment, from ropes to harnesses to shoes. Come down to the retail shop in the climbing wall and try before buying.

Indoor Climbing Centre Hours
Monday to Thursday, excluding public holidays, 3pm. to 9 pm. and Friday 12 - 5 pm, Sat 10 a.m. to 6 p.m and Sun 12 - 4pm. Special bookings by arrangement.

Vertical Limits cater for sports or works teams, schools, extended families etc. and discounts are available by pre-booking.

The Outdoor Climbing Trips are suitable for a wide range of abilities. They'll safely guide you up and down some of the best cliffs in Golden Bay. The area is well known for its outstanding limestone rock climbing, crystal clear rivers, native bush and amazing beaches.

The Full Day Mission includes all climbing gear, instruction, transport and free entry to our indoor climbing wall. Don't forget to bring your swimming gear! Vertical Limits leave the climbing wall at 7.30 - 8.00 am. It takes approximately 1hr 20 mins to get to Golden Bay from Nelson. You need to book at least 24hrs in advance so that they can organise your climbing shoes and harness.

For those of you with less time we run a Half Day Mission. A half-day climbing on the sea cliffs in beautiful Cable Bay, only 20 mins north of Nelson. This trip is suited to beginners and lasts about 4 hours, or longer if you want to swim!
