Just over an hour's pleasant and scenic drive from Nelson or Blenheim is St Arnaud Resort Village, gateway to Nelson Lakes National Park. Alpine Chalet is designed with the budget traveller in mind.

This is a special recreation region which includes two ski areas, two spectacular lakes, expansive forests, exciting river adventures, gold-panning, trout fishing, nature tours, caving, hiking and mountain biking.

There is a cheerful café for dining in or take-away. The café is seasonal so please check with us for opening times. Guests may also enjoy the à la carte restaurant, lounge and bar at the Alpine Lodge.

    This hostel has all the necessary facilities: Tidy rooms, comfortable beds, gear storage, cheap meals, full english breakfast, big communal lounge and kitchen. But with the added bonuses of cheap beer ($3.50 a pint), and very friendly and helpful staff who know the area and are more than happy to help you with getting to and from the area :)
