Welcome to the Tongariro World Heritage Park where you will witness nature at it's best - powerful and serene. To enjoy all Tongariro has to offer stay at Discovery Lodge, your Tongariro accommodation and Gateway to the Tongariro National Park and Mt Ruapehu, providing ideal Whakapapa skiing accommodation (only 12 kms to Whakapapa Ski Area chair lifts).

We will welcome you with enthusiasm and friendliness to our home at the foot of Tongariro's three volcanoes. You will meet people from all over the world who share a passion for nature and life. And because Callum and Hamish share this passion and energy you can be sure your experience of Tongariro is enhanced.

The helpful Discovery Team can organise all your Tongariro adventures including, scenic flights, horse trekking, mountain biking, four wheel drive motorbike touring, Whanganui River escapades and much more.

There is numerous different accommodation options available at Dicovery Lodge.

Backpacker Delux - These little private units are great value. They have their own bathroom, TV, hot drink making facilities and all bedding and linen is provided. Units have either single beds or doubles.

Backpacker Cabins - Budget accommodation for the most frugal. Again no charge for the great location. You will need your own bedding.
