Nestled beneath the towering peaks of the Darran Mountains, Milford Sound Lodge provides a fantastic base to experience the beauty and majesty of Fiordland National Park / Te Wahipounamu - South West New Zealand World Heritage Area.

A land of rugged mountains, enchanting forests and sparkling waters, Milford Sound is an essential part of any New Zealand holiday. Whether you are chasing adventure sports, or sightseeing by car, we can help you get the most out of your time in Fiordland.

We offer a range of accommodation options, including cosy dorms and private twin/ double rooms, rainforest tent sites, and riverside campervan sites. All guests are welcome to use all facilities, including the large comfortable lounge, the communal kitchen and the indoor/ outdoor courtyard dining areas. A great spot to rest and recover after walking the Milford or Routeburn Tracks.

We have double and twin rooms for those travelers who prefer a little more privacy. These rooms come with all linen, including duvets and towels, and are centrally heated. For the more adventurous we have range of dorm style bunk rooms which accommodate between 4 and 10 people. We provide a fitted sheet with a pillow and pillowcase. All you need is a sleeping bag, or you can hire one of our duvets for a small fee.

We have a variety of tent sites around the Milford Lodge complex. Some are hidden away in the temperate rainforest, while others offer spectacular views of the surrounding mountains.

    Situated in one of the most stunning locations in the world, it is perfect for what it is. This well-run, friendly hostel is not for tourists who don't like mud, dampness, or a little bit of roughing-it - it's for serious backpackers, mountaineers, and outdoorsy people. The atmosphere is that of wonderful comraderie after a difficult hike, after days in the rain, or those who would like a roof over their heads after a bout of camping. It's provides the perfect place to be with people in boots and raingear who love to explore New Zealand's wild places. The staff are very friendly, informal, and sincere, and are willing to help you if you need it. This hostel is one of our favorite places in the world and we hope that it stays relatively low-key, providing to the kind of people who welcome its warm embrace on a rainy night. It's not fancy and I hope it never will be. It's not for fancy people!
