Old Bones Backpackers was built in 2005, and designed specifically as a backpacker lodge. There are 6 twin rooms and 2 double, making a maximum of just 16 persons. Beautiful internal wood finishing compliments high quality furnishing and bedding. Spacious, open-plan design will suit those who like to be sociable, while gazing out over the Pacific Ocean.
The lodge is surrounded by open countryside and bordered by Awamoa Creek, which is the site of an ancient Maori settlement, inhabited by 30-100 people, some 600-800 years ago. Grazing farm animals, and a variety of fresh and salt water birds are your closest neighbours.
Landscaped area by the creek with open fireplace for those special occasions.
4 kms South of Oamaru (5 minute drive from Oamaru's penguin viewing).

This message comes from Tahiti. My wife and I stayed several days in this fabulous hostel – backpacker NUMBER ONE of NZ.
We decided to go back there by the End 2009 for at least one week. Simon and his wife are perfect hosts.
