The Old Slaughterhouse, winner of the 2004 BBH Best Hostel award, is 20 minutes north of Westport. This hostel offers some of the best ocean views in New Zealand from it's extensive decks. There is a 10 minute bush walk up hill to reach the hostel but don't fear, your hosts will collect your bags and take them up on the quad bike.
