Saltwater Lodge has set a new standard of accommodation in New Zealand, offering the country’s first Qualmark five star rating for back-packer lodges. Year-round comfort, affordability and luxury make us the accommodation choice of travellers, families and groups from all over the world.

Saltwater Lodge is situated 50 metres from the beach and is still the closest backpackers to the waterfront. It is surrounded by trendy café’s & bars and is only 5 minutes walk to the wharf, town centre, shops and bus terminal.

In the Doubles and Twins located on the second floor, guests can choose between king-size or twin beds (linen provided). They also have a bunk bed in the room so they can sleep up to 4 people, and have an en-suite bathroom, TV, fridge, tea and coffee making facilities and towels provided.

On the 1st Floor: Guests can choose between 4 bed and 6 bed dormitories.
4-bed, Female-only dorms are usually available upon request.
Also available on the 2nd floor are deluxe 4-bed rooms which contain 2 single beds 2 bunks and a TV & Fridge.

All dormitories have en-suite bathrooms and lockers and linen is supplied at no extra charge. Towels can be hired from reception for $2.
