Our elegant lodge enjoys an outstanding location on the banks of the majestic Whanganui River with views of Mt Ruapehu. We are less than 1km from Wanganui’s main street, Victoria Ave.

The Tamara Lodge is a spacious Edwardian villa built in 1904 as a large private home. In 1993, it became the Tamara Backpackers Lodge and has evolved to be a place to return to.
