Opened late 2006, Tombstone Backpackers is locally owned and operated Lynne & Gordon live on site to help make your stay be pleasurable. Being keen Marlborough Sounds enthusiasts they have a bundle of local knowledge to share with you, whether it be diving, fishing, bird life or the Queen Charlotte Walkway, wineries and more. Their aim is to make your stay a memorable and happy one.

Designed with your creature comforts in mind, a purpose built homely hostel catering for a well earned rest at either the beginning or last leg of your South Island journey or even a good place to enjoy the picturesque Marlborough Sounds or maybe sample some of our local wineries for which Marlborough is famous, along with our seafood.

Lose yourself in the stunning views overlooking Picton Harbour from the 100yr old villa while relaxing on an enormous covered veranda, complete with pool table.Then on retiring enjoy the comforts of the brand new purpose built luxury accommodation block. The garden settings have an abundance of fruit trees, great indoor outdoor dining areas bird aviary, under cover bike storage, and ample off street car parking.
