Rum balls presentation

Rum Balls

Recipe submitted by Boris on July 21st, 2006

These delicious rum balls are velvet smooth. Also they make a great gift and the no baking is a huge bonus!

Prep time:   15 minutes
Servings:   2 dozen balls

Ingredients:
1 packet of crushed Arrowroot biscuits (girl guide biscuits)
1 cup desecrated coconut
2 tablespoons of cocoa
1 can of sweetened condensed milk
1/4 cup of rum

Directions:
Crush biscuits finely. Add coconut and cocoa and mix well. Splash in the rum and then stir in the sweetened condensed milk. Form into balls and roll in chocolate sprinkles or cocoa.

Place in a container and store in the fridge for 24 hours. They actually get tastier as the days go by!

Recipe substitute ideas...
-Add chopped raisins or toasted nuts. Pecans, almond and macadamia nuts are great!

Thanks a bunch, love this recipe! We have a few pre-Christmas gatherings and these are just perfect! Quick & easy to whip up and soooo yummy. You've made my day. The kid friendly (non alcohol) ones I cover in choc hail, and the rum ones I cover in coconut. Easy to know whats, what ;o} Have a Merry Xmas!

In response to "mummy", if you are going to let your child eat 2 dozen rum balls, with alcohol or not, then they are going to feel sick. Use rum essence if you must, but really rum balls are a treat and your children shouldn't be eating more then a few on any given day.

Okay as an adult recipe or to adapt it with rum essence is as a substitute for real rum. Im sure parents wouldnt like their kiddies to fall over due to too many tastings of this recipe. :-)
