Behind the doors of The Irish Rover, you'll find Kieran Grealish and his family.
Kieran's parents Peter and Eileen Grealish came to Gisborne in 1955 on a ship called The Captain Cook to start a new life for their family. The Grealish family maintained close links with family back in Galway and their home in Gisborne always had an atmosphere of hospitality and caring with a warm welcome for any travellers from the homeland.
The family became widely known for their love of sport, their sense of humour and their Irish attitude to life. It is in this tradition Kieran and Jo extend through The Irish Rover, which exudes the ambience you're likely to find in a traditional Irish Pub - friendly, warm and inviting with plenty of good hearty food and drink available.
