This historic Icon of Sumner incorporates a 110 year old stone cottage that now holds the bar. The kitchen and service areas were originally the stable and outbuildings. Named "Wharetoka" from the Maori words "Whare" for cottage "Toka" for Stone. The cottage is retained in its original state with stone quarried in nearby Redcliffs. The gardened outdoor courtyard gives the restaurant an indoor/outdoor ambience to delight its patrons.
